  • Podcasts

  • Newsletters

Let’s dive in…

Research, Networking, Consulting 🌐

Campden Wealth

Campden Wealth is a membership organization providing research, networking, and educational opportunities for ultra-high-net-worth families, their family offices, and advisors

With a global presence and more than 1,400 members, it offers publications, conferences, and private events. They are all about knowledge exchange and collaboration among the world’s most affluent families

Campden Wealth’s research is particularly insightful, covering investment strategies, wealth management, family governance, and philanthropy

Useful insights for families looking to preserve and grow their wealth across generations

&Simple

&Simple is an independent provider of knowledge and data about family offices

There are two strands to their business:

Simple for Family Offices - advising family offices (particularly new family offices), providing resources, tools and directories of pre-vetted service providers (eliminating a major due diligence headache for FOs)

Simple for Service Providers - helping service companies understand and connect with the right family offices

&Simple has a great team and produces particularly insightful content on family offices

I have recommended Simple to a few new family offices and to service providers - the feedback has been excellent

Drop me a mail if you would like an introduction

Wealth-X

Wealth-X provides intelligence and data on the ultra-wealthy. This can be a helpful resource for family offices, but also for wealth managers and service providers seeking to understand the dynamics of high-net-worth individuals and their investment behaviors

I share a lot of insights from Wealth-X on 𝕏

The platform offers detailed profiles on individuals, including their net worth, source of wealth, investment interests, and philanthropic activities

Databases 📁

FINTRX

FINTRX is the most comprehensive family office database I have seen

It provides extensive information with detailed profiles and analytics on family offices, offering insights into investment preferences, past transactions, and key decision-makers (including their background and LinkedIn profiles)

FINTRX is aimed at institutional investors and the price reflects that (last I saw, subscriptions can be $20k+ p.a.)

But this platform delivers value. It is particularly valuable for asset managers, private equity professionals, and fundraisers looking to identify and connect with family office investors. Beyond its database, FINTRX offers tools for market research, CRM integration, and direct outreach

Family Office List

Family Office List is a comprehensive database of global family offices, aimed at professionals seeking to connect with high-net-worth investors for fundraising, investment, and partnership opportunities

It’s simple to use and competitively priced. It caters for vendors, founders and prospective family office employees

Designed as a tool to help people reach UHNW individuals and Family Offices, the database has more than 7,700 decision-makers from 4,187 family office firms with AUM over $6 trillion

Forbes runs a lot of stories on family offices (and features frequently in the family office news section of this newsletter). It’s well-known for its comprehensive lists and rankings, including the Forbes 400 and Billionaires List

Bloomberg

Benjamin Stupples @BenStupples at Bloomberg is one of my favorite writers on wealth, family offices and finance. Well worth a follow

Organizations 👥

SFO Alliance

The Single Family Office (SFO) Alliance is a private network designed specifically for single-family offices to share best practices, industry trends, and investment opportunities in a confidential environment

Based out of London, it is free to join, but members must be from Single Family Offices with AUM of at least $400mn

The great selling point… there are no sales. Family offices can attend SFO Alliance events and not expect to be sold to

The SFO Alliance facilitates peer-to-peer exchange and collaboration among family offices, providing a safe space for members to discuss challenges, solutions, and strategies related to wealth management, succession planning, and family governance

The SFO Alliance hosts events and forums, including an annual May conference in London offering members access to a community of like-minded individuals and families facing similar issues. They also host excellent webinars

Family Office Exchange (FOX)

Offering research, advisory services, and networking opportunities, FOX helps high-net-worth families and their advisors navigate the complexities of managing significant wealth

Their resources cover a wide range of topics, including investment management, family governance, and next-generation education. Through forums, peer learning groups, and expert insights, FOX has built a community where members can exchange ideas, strategies, and experiences, facilitating the continuous growth and evolution of family offices

The Family Office Club

The Family Office Club is one of the largest membership-based family office associations, offering a platform for networking, education, and investment opportunities to its members. The club hosts regular conferences, workshops, and webinars that cover a broad range of topics relevant to family offices, including direct investments, real estate, and alternative investments

I haven’t worked with the Family Office Club, so would be interested to hear from those who have

TIGER 21

Through group meetings, exclusive events, and access to a wide range of educational resources, TIGER 21 focuses on improving its members' investment acumen, enhancing their understanding of wealth preservation, and exploring philanthropic endeavors

𝕏 highlights

An underestimated role of the family office:

When a boutique family office makes sense

Not a board meeting.. not a family holiday… a family meeting

📚 what to read

Amoralman by Derek Delguadio is a highly entertaining memoir of a card cheat and his journey through a world of “charlatans, card cheats, and con artists”. I burned through this one in a few days!

📻 what to listen to

Something a little different this week, but just because it is very funny

The Moth is a storytelling podcast. In this episode, Chrits MCKinlay uses his computer skills to find a date…

“I decided that I was going to reverse engineer OKCupid’s match algorithm.”

This is about humor.. but never underestimate the power of storytelling

📺 what to watch

I’ve only seen a couple of episodes of Dirty Money on Netflix.. but this is a fascinating dive into greed and corruption

📰 family offices news roundup

And finally…

This edition will be a bit of a depository, so I will continue to add resources (and maybe take some away if necessary)

I ask for feedback every week, but this week it’s particularly important because I plan to keep editing

So..

What do you think of these resources?

Did I miss anything?

What are your experiences with the publications and organizations listed?

Do you need more information on any of them?

As always, DMs and emails are open… albeit with a bit of a backlog

That’s all for now, have a great weekend, see you on 𝕏
