Who is the elusive Mr Family Office?

Chances are, you know me from Twitter/X

I have 20+ years working with family offices and am currently running a single-family office with assets under management approaching $500 million

I've been working in banking and finance for more than 25 years... with stints as CFO and CEO

I like to have my fingers in a lot of pies. I love investing and building businesses. But I’m also living my best life. And that involves my own family. They will always be my number 1 priority, so you could also call me Mr Family Man

A sympathetic assessment of my character may suggest an affinity for teaching, writing and sharing my knowledge. A less sympathetic assessment may suggest I’m a massive narcissist who needs an audience

Either way, I’m enjoying the ride. I started tweeting at the start of 2023 thinking it would be fun to share my random thoughts… it led me here. I’m loving the conversations, the connections, the friends I’ve made (online friends - who’d have thought!?). So say hello… it’s great to meet you

Red Notice by Bill Browder

(nothing to do with the Ryan Reynolds movie on Netflix)

Red Notice is my favorite book of the year so far. An absolute page-turner. A glimpse into the terrifying world of high finance, corruption and murder in Putin’s Russia. As the Soviet Union broke up, Wall Street maverick Bill Browder built an empire exposing corrupt oligarchs and earning huge returns. But while the returns were stratospheric, so were the risks.

📻 what to listen to

David Senra dives deep on Founders so you don’t have to. Senra reads a biography of an entrepreneur each week and shares lessons, wisdom and implementable ideas. Value every week.

📺 what to watch

As this is the first newsletter… it has to be Succession. One of my favorite shows ever. Insightful and darkly comic. If you haven’t seen it, go to the beginning, you’re in for a treat. If you have seen it, watch it again for the things you missed.
