2024 in review
What a year it’s been! I’ve made some incredible connections and friends. The family office sector continues to boom. We’re in exciting times.
Here are some of the highlights of the year:
🐝 This year saw the launch of The Buzz newsletter - a staple for family office people every Monday showcasing the “best of the rest” family office content from X, LinkedIn and the wider media.
As family offices become better understood, the media is publishing more on the topic. But there’s a lot of junk out there. The Buzz summarizes the best and most interesting content of the week.
🔄 There’s been a rebrand. As always, not everyone likes change... one person on Twitter dubbed the new logo, “man standing at a bus stop”. But feedback has been overwhelmingly positive and I love it!
Look out for the new website in 2025 featuring our friend at the bus stop.
💼 We launched the monthly Careers newsletters. This has proven to be incredibly popular both from candidates and family offices.
It’s a great feeling to facilitate connections between candidates and family offices.
The monthly Careers newsletter will continue in 2025 with more resources on site for candidates looking to climb the family office ladder.
🤝 October saw the first of our new monthly Dealflow newsletter. This shares deals from GPs targeting family offices and sophisticated UHNW investors.
We have big plans to integrate this Dealflow newsletter into a more integrated platform over the next year. Stay tuned!
👥 There have been new members joining the Mr Family Office team, drawing from family office expertise around the world. This will help us improve the content and gain better insights into the diverse world of family offices.
🌐 There have been partnerships with great sponsors helping to support the newsletter. In true family office tradition - we say ‘no’ a lot. Most deals and sponsors are not right, as we only work with companies that are aligned with the Mr Family Office values and outlook.
But we expect some great partner content in 2025 allowing us to dig deep into some of the more opaque family office topics.
❌ Not everything has gone to plan. Tweets fall flat, ideas fizzle out. I started a Community on X to try to form a more intimate and open forum for family office people. It didn’t take off.
But I will explore better ways to connect and converse with smaller groups family office people in 2025. All ideas are welcome here.
📱 It all started on 𝕏 and social media is still going strong. But the newsletter is perhaps what I'm most excited about. This is a growing community (+10% monthly!) of committed family office people. It’s fascinating to see what people are interested in and it’s a pleasure to have such engaged readers.
Here are some 2024 highlights:
42.6K followers on 𝕏 🤯
54.7M 𝕏 impressions in the year
1,572 new LinkedIn followers
5,300 newsletter subscribers (+179% for the year)
62.1% open rate & 8% click-through rate
📅 There are big plans for 2025 with a new website, resources, collaborations, partnerships, interviews, profiles… we plan to bring that absolute best content to you.
As the network and community grows, your feedback and clicks show us what you want more of.
Thank you!

💼 where to work
Three notable family office job opportunities from this week…
“Seek to constantly improve your communication skills and ability to effectively code switch between constituents, stakeholders and generational cohorts.” - Brian Adams, Mack International
📚 what to read
Forget everything you learned at business school! Rework by Jason Fried and David Heinemeier Hansson is the antidote to formulaic business advice.
It’s a short book (I read it in a day) but it’s packed with practical advice from successful small business owners. This is a must-read for anyone thinking about starting a business.
📻 what to listen to
In this episode of How I Invest, David Weisburd speaks to family office veteran Ron Diamond on trends and developments in the family office sector. Diamond starts off by saying that family offices are not professional.
📺 what to watch
I really enjoyed The Holdovers this Christmas. The great Paul Giamatti plays a grouchy school teacher at an exclusive private school who is stuck supervising students who can’t go home for the holidays. It has shades of Dead Poet’s Society. It’s sharp, funny and moving.
And finally…
Last week’s newsletter was a really popular one: Golden Passports Made Easy.
Some people had a problem with the link to our full list of the 14 most accessible golden passports- so here it is again.
Poll results: 2025 will be a big year for family offices: based on the poll in last week’s newsletter, 89% of family offices expect to hire next year! The Careers newsletter could go into overdrive.
If you missed it, here’s Monday’s Family Office Buzz .
Until next week, see you on 𝕏 or LinkedIn.
